Declaration statement on DecaBDE
On 1 April 2008 the European Court of Justice banned the use of Decabromodiphenylether (DecaBDE), a brominated flame retardant, in electrical and electronic equipment. DecaBDE was originally prohibited under Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS). The EU Commission lifted that ban for use in plastics in 2005, considering that elimination of the substance was impractical at that time (RoHS Annex: exemption 9a). The substance, which belongs to the group of polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDE) can be found in electrical and electronic equipment e.g. plastic housings or in electronic components.
In line with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' principle on RoHS compliance, DecaBDE has been eliminated from our products or processes well before the legal ban.
We hereby declare that OSRAM Opto Semiconductors' products do not contain DecaBDE in concentrations exceeding 0.1% (weight) in homogenous materials.
