Sparkling with LEDs
Bright LED light from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors shines from all the headlights, taillights and indicators on the Chevrolet WTCC Ultra. With their shallow mounting depth and optimum thermal behavior, the high-brightness LEDs fit perfectly in the bold aggressive design of this concept sports car.
Muscular, powerful and efficient - those are the words that are being used to describe the ready-to-race Chevrolet WTCC Ultra concept. This eye-catching vehicle is a vision of a new generation of touring cars. Designed as a "muscle car", it exudes unbridled power even when standing still. The design is one of strong contrasts between sharp edges and soft flowing lines, and also between matt and highly reflective surfaces.
The headlights are part of the overall design concept and are reminiscent of the eyes of a predator. The light comes exclusively from high-power light emitting diodes. Nine high-brightness Golden DRAGON LEDs on each side provide the light for the headlights. Three special boards each equipped with 60 Power TOPLEDs are used for the front indicators. They follow the sharp-edged contour of the headlights and look like eyelids over the headlight LEDs. At the back there are 25 Power TOPLEDs for the taillights and 30 for the indicators. The bright brake light is provided by 21 Advanced Power TOPLEDs.
The special headlight design called for light sources that were compact enough to be integrated in shallow fittings and still offer high efficiency and optimum heat dissipation. With its broad portfolio of LEDs in a variety of performance categories and packaging, OSRAM can offer the right solution whatever the lighting task.
