Innovative lighting

Opel show car with OSRAM LEDs Small compact high-power LEDs from OSRAM are giving car designers new free-dom. On the Opel GTC concept car they provide impressive interior and exterior lighting.
High-power LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors play a prominent role in the interior and exterior lighting for the Opel GTC concept car and make a significant contribution to the remarkable design of this sports coupé.
With the GTC concept car, Opel is setting new standards in styling, dynamics and technology. Apart from its stunning looks and impressive performance, the coupé is equipped with the latest that the lighting industry can offer, namely high-power LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. Thanks to thin-film technology, which has led to a quantum leap in brightness, these tiny light sources are now so powerful that only a few are needed for all the exterior lighting. Parking lights and daylight running light on the GTC concept car are provided by Golden DRAGONLEDs; two OSTARLEDs are used in each headlight for the dipped beam, with three further OSTARLEDs in each headlight providing the high beam. Each fog light is equipped with one OSTARLED.
With their short response times, LEDs make a significant contribution to road safety, particularly if sudden braking is needed. The tiny light sources have a life of more than 50,000 hours, which means they will last as long as the car. Their compact dimensions give vehicle designers immense freedom to create new designs for the front and rear light clusters and for the cockpit lighting.
LEDs are also used to great effect inside the concept car. Red TOPLEDs give the four classic instruments on the dashboard of the show car a reddish glow which goes perfectly with the stylish red design accents on the seats and steering wheel.
The Opel GTC concept car is further proof that LEDs are fast becoming the lighting of choice in the car industry - for both interior and exterior lighting.
