Healthy and safe
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors receives another award

The German association of precision mechanics and electrical engineering (BGFE) has presented OSRAM Opto Semiconductors with an award in recognition of its commitment to health and safety at work. The award is presented each year to a specially selected company.
The semiconductor specialist impressed the judges with its long-term concept for health and safety management, combined with the tremendous commitment of all its employees and the consistently low accident rates as a result. The concept comprises individual modules that are constantly being monitored for weaknesses and then improved or expanded as required. As an overarching system it brings together the operational and legal requirements relating to environment protection and health & safety at work. New laws and directives, such as the RoHS directive that came into force on July 1, 2006, are automatically integrated into workflows and immediately implemented by all employees.
Jürgen Reinert, the Technical Director at BGFE, presented the certificate to Production Manager Jörg Thäle on May 23, 2006. The award is for everyone in the company. It will encourage employees to continue actively promoting safety, developing measures to improve health & safety and incorporating them in day-to-day operations.
