Fascinating work of spatial art with OSRAM LED
Artist Martin Bonadeo created a fascinating work of art for which he won the "Gran Premio a las Nuevas Tecnologias" award in Argentina.
It took the Argentinian Martin Bonadeo two years and 10,000 yellow LEDs from OSRAM to complete his work of art, "Moebius Display". It consists of square, black plates on which the LEDs are installed. Strung together, the plates make up a strip. The ends of the strip are joined to form a circle, one end of which is twisted by 180 degrees. This structure, also called Moebius loop, has neither beginning nor end. The LEDs fitted produce words which turn to opposites as they move through the Moebius loop. Thus, for example, good becomes bad, inside becomes outside, and peace becomes war. This luminous work of art won the "Gran Premio a las Nuevas Tecnologias" award endowed by the Argentinian foundation Fundacion Telefonica.
The "Moebius Display" project was supported by OSRAM, which provided 10,000 LY 5436 type LEDs. This type has a colourless, clear 5mm package, solder leads without stand-off and a viewing angle of 40 degrees. Applications of these LEDs include indoor and outdoor information displays, optical indicators and interior automotive lighting.
