Golden DRAGON Engineering Kit
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors presents the Golden DRAGON Engineering Kit
The Golden DRAGON Engineering Kit enables high-power LEDs to be tested for colour intensity, brightness and focus under conditions that closely resemble real life. It contains eight mini boards each with an LED, and special lenses for different light beams.
Handling and use of the LEDs can be configured like a building kit to suit customer requirements. Initial contact with this light source can be made without having to get over any major inhibitions.
The Engineering Kit
This contains mini boards with LEDs in monochrome white, warm white, blue, verde, true green, amber, or yellow, or multicolor (=2x white, blue, true green, amber). The metal core board is designed for FRAEN lenses.
The Lenses Package
These four special lenses made from optical grade PMMA offer two different beam angles (5º or 32º).
The power LEDs
With the Golden DRAGON, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is taking one more step towards general lighting applications. The white Golden DRAGON LEDs have an output of 40 lumen and are qualified for a maximum permissible current of 500 mA. But that's not the end of it - more is soon to come!

The Golden DRAGON complies with the strict quality requirements of the automobile industry and can be processed using standard solder techniques. A special reduced-aging resin prolongs the life of the white Golden DRAGON to more than 50,000 hours. The material can withstand harsh ambient conditions such as extreme temperatures between -40°C and +100°C and humidity up to 85%.
It already complies with the RoHS Directive. The high-power LED contains neither mercury nor arsenic. Since modern solder processes involve relatively high temperatures there is no lead either.
