A day in the life
Ralph Wirth
Hello there! My name is Ralph Wirth and I am 38 years old, married and father to one child. After completing my master's degree in physics, I went on to do my doctorate on the optical properties of III/V-semiconductors. I started working at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors thanks to the support of some ex-colleagues from my university who had already started working there.
Since joining the company, I have worked in various positions in the area of red and yellow LED chips, as a developer, project manager and cluster manager. Alongside these responsibilities, I gained additional experience as a member of the OSRAM Opto Semiconductors scheme for training junior staff.
I am now deeply involved in investigating new possibilities for improving the performance of LED chips, designing the new generation of chips, planning and conducting series of experiments and handing over new products to the manufacturing division.
There are many things I value at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors - the flexible working times, the corporate culture of a major company and working in interdisciplinary teams with colleagues from a number of departments. My job is especially varied because I work with people from almost every department at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and there is very little work that could be called "routine".
Who knows, perhaps we'll see each other soon at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.
Yours Ralph Wirth
