In the entire spectrum of semiconductor technologies, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors holds more than 3000 patents. A large portion of those cover technologies for industrial production of LEDs and lasers based on Indium Gallium Nitride and Indium Gallium Aluminum Phosphide.

As an OSRAM subsidiary, the company uses the synergy of a world-wide company. As a manufacturer of fluorescent lamps, OSRAM has gained several years of experience with converter materials. These phosphors are required in order to create white light for single chip technologies. Additionally they are also used in the manufacture of LEDs in Color on Demand.
