Hello! My name is Jörg Strauß. I am 33 years old and married. The final year project I did for my chemistry degree dealt with light-emitting substances. So after completing my studies, I concentrated on applying for positions with companies, which focused on this sector. That is how I ended up as a materials development engineer at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.

For about the last one and half years I have been managing a larger project in my department. I co-ordinate the international project team and am responsible for the deadlines, milestones and budget planning. My other activities run alongside this - and include the typical aspects of material development and evaluating experiments.

For me, the fascination of working for OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is the amazing range of LED products we produce. Light really grabs people's attention. We notice that every day in our work, which is a lot of fun.

Since 2006, I have also been a member of the training scheme for junior staff. This gives me the opportunity to expand my specialist expertise and build knowledge in other essential areas.

It's easy to feel happy and at home at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors because they guarantee secure jobs, offer a good social security system and provide so many opportunities for further training.
