Action spectrum
This is the spectral sensitivity for an effect triggered by light. There are action spectrums for a wide variety of biological effects, for example for the occurrence of sunburn due to UV or for the formation of vitamin D due to UV-B. The action spectrum for the sensitivity of the eye is the v (λ) curve. The c (λ) function proposed by Professor Gall corresponds to the action spectrum for night-time melatonin suppression by light. It is now assumed that the other biological effects of light essentially follow this action spectrum.
