Stakeholder Engagement

Sustainable development requires interaction with different stakeholders. Only so can we contribute to spreading sustainable concepts and receive feedback about our own actions. We are in constant dialogue with our stakeholders.

Employees

OSRAM is only as good as its employees. In return they expect good labor conditions, fair treatment and compensation, and excellent qualifying programs. The dialogue with our employees is an integral part of our philosophy. Good examples are employee satisfaction surveys and our internal company magazine.

Shareholders

OSRAM is a 100%-subsidiary of the SIEMENS AG, a publicly listed corporation with a broad base of shareholders. SIEMENS and OSRAM are in constant dialogue with our investors. Our products are a significant part of the SIEMENS environmental portfolio.

Customers/Consumers

Customers and consumers are our most important stakeholders. Only if we satisfy their needs can we remain successful in the long run. Our products are the most obvious calling card for our company, and we use a multitude of channels for keeping in close touch with our customers.

Suppliers

We conduct an intensive dialogue with suppliers, because it is the only way we can offer top quality. Within the scope of sustainable development we expect our suppliers to follow our example. Furthermore we support them to live up to the principles postulated in our supplier code of conduct.

Associations (Industry & Scientific)

A sustainable change of the market sometimes requires joint initiatives. For example, the efforts at phasing out inefficient incandescent lamps in Europe are conducted by the ELC (European Lamp Companies federation), of which we are a member. Technical standards are developed in international standardization committees e.g. the IEC/ CIE (International Electrotechnical Commission/ International Commission on Illumination). These offer a wide exchangeability of lighting technology.

Governments/ Regulators

We provide experts to support governments and their agencies with solutions for sustainable development. We contribute actively to developing regulations for the use of energy-saving lighting technology. Furthermore, we are in dialogue with these agencies about the development of recycling-systems similar to those set up in Europe in response to the WEEE directives.

Local Communities

We as a global player take our local responsibility seriously. OSRAM has factories and offices all over the world. Our neighbors and local stakeholders there are especially important for us. Here the local managers organize a dialogue according to the needs of the respective situation.
